Rachel Ann Austin

http://rachelannaustin.com/Map_Paintings.html

I was adventuring around trying to find some new inspiration by others and I stumbled upon this woman's website. Her name is Rachel Ann Austin and she makes awesome mixed media pieces using maps.

"My map paintings are layered with maps and  a medium buffed with oil.  The final creation is drawn and painted on this lovely, textured surface.  Each painting is named for a location on the map  and framed with a simple handmade wood frame.   Sizes listed are in inches.  Super cute and affordable original art!"

Enjoy.

"Ancient of Days"

So I've been in Art History for a year now and I enjoyed studying Egyptian art and Italian Art... of any era...but other then that most everything blends in to me. I can appreciate the talent but it doesn't interest me. Well one day a couple weeks ago we began studying Romanticism... and I fell in love with the emotions and power. While reading through the chapter I found a painting that was graphically interesting to me. I was reading my book outside in the warmth of the beginning of spring. After staring at the painting titled "Ancient of Days" by William Blake, I became obsessed. I've found paintings that I "like" but now I truly have my favorite piece.

So for the past couple days I've been a model for Justin James. He's an amazing Dallas photographer its its been an absolute pleasure spending time with him. Check out the gorgeous photos he took. Hes extremely talented and fresh.

On my way tonight I was listening to the Edge of all stations (my ipod died) and the song catches my attention. Its a dreamlike song that reminds me of The Frays style and his voice sounds like Bono.

enjoy.

The Women Tell All

Heres a poster that I made for a conference for women and challenges
that they face. Women will come and tell stories of difficult times in their
lives and how they've over come them.
